I've asked the kids to write the following three items down just on the Monday and then they don't have to write them the rest of the week:

1) Camping basket items due March 2nd
2) Painting in class Feb. 3
3) Tubing/Snowshoeing notice due Feb. 1


This item went up after the kids went home:  Bring a photo of yourself doing something you really enjoy doing for the scrapbook session on Feb. 10

My apologies for not blogging last night.  I had written in the weekend blog that I wanted p. 239 done for homework.  I was absent that day and apparently the TOC did not officially assign it for homework.  If this has caused any problems (IE a kid stayed up late to complete it because I had written it in the blog), then I will of course mark their work.  Just ask them to come see me.

Anyway, here are a few organizational items, which to save space, I've asked the kids to write the following three items down just for Monday and then they don't have to write them the rest of the week:

7) Two weeks from now, I want to do a French project that will involve cutting up pictures (funny, realistic, cartoon, etc.).  I'm informing now, so kids have a chance to bring in old magazines, etc. closer to the week of Jan 30th.


I really want to commend the students on the presentation of the poems they memorized.  Many of the students really challenged themselves and the results in many cases were fantastic.

 Tonight's blog might appear to have a lot of homework.  However, upon further investigation, at least two are organizational only and regarding the other eight, some of the assignments are quite old (Halloween sketch "Oscar" and Christmas sketch, for example).  Children who have paced their work out should have no trouble keeping up with the due dates.  If you have any questions or concerns about these, please feel free to contact me at school.

In addition, I just wanted to make a note to remind parents that if their child is going home for lunch, please send a note with them that day.  I can think of a few children whose parents at the start of the year indicated on the form that went home that their child would occasionally be going home.  For other children, who would be going home only on occasion, please send a note.  It's a safety precaution, just so we know where your children are.  Thank you

You might notice that there has been several assignments added in one day.  These are all old assignments that the students have already had ample time to complete.  Now I've set fair due dates and of course I hope each student turns in their best work.

We are currently doing poetry, and I have a lot of ideas on writing poems and examining poetic devices which I hope will make for a fun unit.

In addition, we started our ancient Egypt unit today.  I'm very excited about that.  I've done it before and it usually proves to be a lot of work, a lot of fun and quite memorable.

Hello and Happy New Year to you all.

We had a very active gym period today.  Please ask your child about the amazing stations they completed.

2) Socials test (marked over the holidays) signed by a parent for Thursday (Just in case you want an extra day to look it over).

This is an exciting time.  As we come back from holiday, I am looking forward to all of the great units I have planned before our next break.
