***I realize there are two Grade 6 tests announced and no Gr 7 tests. The latter are coming; their units are just a little longer.

ALSO, I will give the Grade 6s time IN SCHOOL to study for both the Math and Science tests.  In fact, they already started today, with time to make individual study notes for Science!!

***Constable Doolin came in today and talked to the kids about some really important information about Halloween and a few other items. As a result, however, we didn't have time to work on our novel study, so the work that was supposed to be due today will now be due tomorrow (after time given in class).

We started our novel study today.  Students were given all of the due dates, which you should find in their planners.  Unlike other assignments which are on the blog, these due dates will not be on the homework board; they are only in the planners and it is expected students will be aware of those dates.

This afternoon, I went over the novel study we will be beginning soon on Survival in the Wilderness.  I have provided several options for books for the kids to read.  If anyone wants to read something different, I would ask that they run that by me beforehand. Also, I would never expect parents to have to buy a book when I have provided so many options for the kids.  I aim to start reading the novel Thursday and assignments will begin next week.  Please ask your child to share the (admittedly wordy - I had to be explicit) criteria as well as all of the dates, which should be in their planners from now until December 16th!  This novel study has produced some very interesting work in the past, and I look forward to more inspired work this year.
